Samsung has returned with its most ambitious foldable phone to date, the Galaxy Z Fold 7. This gadget, which retails for a hefty ₹1,69,999 in India, attempts to redefine what a smartphone can be. Is it worth almost ₹1.7 lakh, though?
Here is my frank and straightforward review of the Fold 7, which I have been using as my main phone for a full week.
🔍Design & Build Quality: Sleek, Sturdy & Premium
Samsung has almost perfected the foldable form factor. Compared to the previous Fold 6, the hinge is more robust and slender, the crease is hardly perceptible, and the entire design feels more compact.
Weight: about 239g (less than previously)
Victus 3 Armor Aluminum frame with Gorilla Glass
IPX8 water resistance
✅ Advantage: Excellent in-hand feel; hinge feels incredibly sturdy
❌ Weakness: No dust resistance yet
📱 Display: Dual Screens That Impress
External Display: Dynamic AMOLED 2X 6.3" 120 Hz refresh rate Main Foldable Screen (Inner Display): 7.8" QXGA+ AMOLED Beautiful colors, HDR10+, and 120Hz
⚙️ Performance: Power Meets Efficiency
This phone manages everything like a beast thanks to its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 for Galaxy processor. 12GB of RAM Up to 1TB of storage (no microSD slot) Android 15-based One UI 7
Split-screen, multitasking, and gaming all function flawlessly. Additionally, the Flex Mode, which allows you to use apps half-folded, is actually helpful.
✅ Strong point: No lags even with heavy use
❌ Weak point: Gets warm during extended gaming
📸 Cameras: Solid, But Not the Best in Flagship Segment
Triple camera on the back: Main 50MP (OIS) Ultra-wide 12MP 3x optical zoom 10MP telephoto Front-facing cameras: 10MP external display 4MP inner screen under-display
Photographs taken in the daylight are striking. Although not as good as the iPhone 16 Pro Max or Galaxy S45 Ultra, low light is respectable.
🔋 Battery Life & Charging
4600mAh battery
25W wired / 15W wireless charging
I regularly spent between five and six hours in front of a screen. Considering the two screens, that’s good. But when compared to competitors who offer 65W+, the charging speed seems antiquated.
✅ Strong point: Lasts a full day on moderate use
❌ Weak point: Slow charging for the price
💼 Productivity & Features
For power users, this is where the Fold 7 excels: Support for DeX for a desktop-like experience Drag and drop between applications 3. Using resizable windows for app multitasking Support for S Pens (separately sold)
⚖️ Verdict: Should You Buy the Galaxy Z Fold 7?
This is one of the most distinctive and potent smartphones available if you’re a tech enthusiast, business user, or buyer who prioritizes productivity.
However, most people might not think that spending ₹1.7 lakh on a foldable screen is worth it, especially since flagship phones with faster charging or better cameras are more affordable.
✅ Buy If You:
Desire the greatest foldable experience on the market right now? Heavy multitasking or on-the-go content consumption In need of a hybrid phone and tablet
❌ If You Can: Are you a nerd for mobile photography? Desire small phones or quick charging Have a budget
🔚 Final Thoughts
With the Fold 7, Samsung has perfected the form factor and software optimizations. It feels strong, futuristic, and surprisingly practical. However, there is a high cost associated with this future, and your lifestyle and use case will determine whether that cost is justified.
